QUEER BOOK CLUB
WHERE STORIES & COMMUNITY BLEND
Welcome to Queer Book Club at El Sueñito Brewing Seattle and Frelard Tamales! All gender expressions and sexual orientations are welcomed. Join us from 7pm - 9pm every Wednesday to read and discuss books with queer themes or characters written by queer authors. Every month we select a different book, mixing up subject and genre for variety, and break it down into four parts for easy reading over the month.
The first hour of every QBC meeting is for reading at book club reserved tables and enjoying our special early happy hour prices on food and drinks. Our second hour is for discussing the section of the book we've read this week and socializing.
OUR CURRENT READ
A "novel in verse" that reimagines the Greek myth of Geryon, a winged red monster, as a modern, queer coming-of-age story. It follows Geryon from childhood through his intense, tragic love affair with Herakles (Hercules), exploring themes of love, trauma, and artistic self-discovery through his photography and poetry. Carson blends ancient myth with contemporary realism, using blank verse and prose to create a unique, emotionally rich narrative. 6/3 read through p. 36, 6/10 read through p. 71, 6/17 read through 110, 6/24 rest of the book.

OUR NEXT READ
An irreverently sexy, tender, hilarious, and surprising novel about a woman upending her life. It tells the story of one woman’s quest for a new kind of freedom. Part absurd entertainment, part tender reinvention of the sexual, romantic, and domestic life of a forty-five-year-old female artist, All Fours transcends expectation while excavating our beliefs about life lived as a woman. July hijacks the familiar and turns it into something new and thrillingly, profoundly alive. Read through chapter 7 for July 1st, through ch. 13 for the 8th, taking July 15th off, through chapter 21 for the 22nd, rest of the book for July 29th.
